Moses Gates - Moe@allcitynewyork.com

I’m a licensed New York City tour guide, as well as a writer, traveler, urbanist, and graduate of Hunter College’s Masters of Urban Planning program.   I’ve also dedicated the last few years to exploring the hidden and elusive spaces below, around, and especially above New York and various other world cities.   A few of these adventures are documented on the stories portion of this site.

The term All-City was first used (and still is) by graffiti writers to denote someone who has their work up all over the city – not just the places most people were, not just the places in their area, but everywhere.

When a writer is truly All-City, you’re not surprised when you find their tag anywhere in the 5 boroughs, from a derelict corner of Far Rockaway to a Fifth Avenue Penthouse, from Bronx subway tunnels to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge.

This is the approach I’ve taken to being an explorer and guide in New York - that everywhere in the city is interesting.   That every borough, every community, every block is worth visiting.   That everything, regardless of how strange, remote, or seemingly inaccessible it might be, should be seen.

New York Times (English): A feature article about myself and others who enjoy going nutty places in New York.

Maxim (Spanish): Another feature, but with pictures. Focused on the high-adrenaline angle. Solo en Espanol. (scanned)

Arena (Danish): Basically the same article as above, but in Danish and with some different pictures. (scanned)

La Stampa (Italian): I have no idea where this one came from.   Anyone care to translate?

Time Out New York (English): I'm also the "anonymous lunatic" quoted in the first paragraph.

WNYC (English): One lovely summer day going places and doing stuff with the Flux Factory and 40 random people.
